slow burn

It's been a couple months since I last posted, if you don't count the comments I leave on Ramon's entries. I got to go to the Sacramento Tattoo Convention and had a great time. I got to hang out with my Tattoo friends from Europe and Ethan from So Ca tattooed my ankle. I did my 3 week guest spot in Maui and was glad to get home.... I missed my dog! It was pretty slow there and I had lots of time to do all kinds of art projects. I saw the "War of the worlds" and "Fantastic Four" but my fav was "BATMAN BEGINS" Christian Bale is dreamy. I hesitated to go see it because I am a die hard Micheal Keaton Batman fan.... but Chris did an excellent job. I didn't do any tourist stuff except go deep sea fishing the first weekend I was there. It was a blast and I did get to catch a fish...a 10 lb Mahi Mahi. He was small and looked like he hadn't eaten in days but I didn't care I ate him! The rest of the time I just worked and drank and saved all my money. About a week into it I decided I was going to make enough money to buy a new TV for the downstairs. It's not a problem if you want to watch a movie with a family member but it's kinda awkward entertaining TV guests when the only place to watch TV is in my bedroom. So I was a cheap cheesy bitch and horded my cash and came home and did just that. Now a new 55" big screen TV sets in my newly re arranged living room. A room that was hardly ever used unless someone drank to much to drive home and crashed on the couch. When I got home my new room mate Steve was anxious for me to pat him on the head and tell him how well he did taking care of the house.... he did good. Anthony and Jessica were here too but really didn't do much more than over see... I didn't care though. Ant needed to do a little saving (I'm not sure he saved any money though) to get into the new apartment arrangement. The house looked great. All the plants were still alive, the lawn was mowed and the yard was groomed. Not to mention the pool was crystal clear and ready to jump into. Dude told me later that Steve had been very good to him and he wasn't mad at me for leaving him home. I landed and had a busy week. I made more money in 3 days here at home than I made in a week and a half over there, and with way less drama. I'm not going to tell you the drama because I've already processed it and I'm over it. It's been 2 weeks and things are back to normal... better than normal... I am leaving in the morning to go to my mothers in Oregon to go camping with her. Her and I are both members of a black powder club. You know dress in your indian clothes and camp like they did in the fur trade era circa 1820 to 1840.... My sister is also driving down from the Portland area to join the costumed fun. I started going back to rendezvous a few years ago and always have my gear semi packed and ready to go. I normally go with friends in my club and sleep in their teepee but I borrowed a small tent called a "One pole" from Ron to take up there with me. My sister and I will share it. My sister and I need to hang out and talk by candle light, quiet, just her and I, and I'm looking forward to that. We really don't ever spend time together (living so far apart) and I have wanted to have a closer bond to my family members since my father passed away. So this will be great. We are hoping that this will become a time that all of us can get together as a family in the coming years.... next year we'll get Gil and his family to come and mom and all her kids will be camping,,, together, like we used to do when we were young, only better.
Well I need to finish up a couple things and go to bed. I want to drive out of here at 5 in the morning cuz it's a 7 hour drive and I don't want to be anywhere near Redding when it gets hot.

sounds like you had a great time! i am planning to go to burning man and a friend (and maybe myself) would like to get henna tattoos done. would you have some time around the 3rd week of august (i've got to check the dates) or are you going to be in the wilderness?

congrats on the tv - it will definately be cool to be cooking and have folks watching movie next to the kitchen instead of being separated upstairs.

hugs and smiles. aimee :-)
